I'm sorry...

I'm sorry for the lack of activity, but I've been very busy lately and don't have much time for blogging, Facebook, etc. To make amends with you all, here is a silly/cute GIF for your entertainment. Enjoy!

Unbelievable but True Police Blotters

We've all spotted something valuable that is pretty much asking to be stolen and most of the time we leave it be. Some people however, go out of their way to filch something that the rest of us wouldn't imagine stealing at all. Here are two separate blotters regarding the theft of...well just read for yourself!

  • A Fort Henry Drive resident claimed their home had been burglarized, with just one item stolen: toilet paper from a bathroom.
  • Police were alerted to an incident that occurred the previous evening at Cherokee High School. During tryouts for the color guard an employee was approached by an adult female, who allegedly "demanded" access to a restroom. School personnel granted her access, but later learned from witnesses that she left with, "a bag full of toilet paper." A check of the restroom revealed approximately 50 rolls had been stolen, valued at $37.50. A 45-year-old Bulls Gap woman was identified to police as the suspect, with her later located and interviewed. She was charged with theft under $500.
  • A Rogersville woman reported 25 chicks had been stolen from a pen in her front yard. She reportedly told police it was more of a harassment than actually theft, due to it, "only happening once a year."
  • Police were called to Kroger on East Stone Drive, where employees had a shoplifter in custody. The woman reportedly drank a soda and placed the empty can by a cash register, then attempted to leave without paying for two pregnancy test kits. She was cited for theft and released.
  •  A man in a Camaro reportedly stole Mountain Dew from a Highway 126 convenience store.
  • A resident of Oasis Lane called police over a dispute with his wife. When a deputy responded it was learned he was mad because she had eaten leftover fish before he returned home. The woman corroborated his story. No assault had taken place, with the couple advising they could remain together at the residence with no further problems.

Captcha describes Rupert Murdoch...

This Captcha must know something about the CEO of Newscorp. Though this could describe many media moguls, celebrities, musicians, etc. Beware of the Media Evillest!

P.S. I'm aware that the spelling isn't quite right, but it's sounds close enough. If you blame anyone then blame Captcha.

I laughed when I saw this and it's nice to see that Google has a sense of humor. Just imagine if Google started trolling a lot more, maybe they'd have their own version of Rick Rolling. Anyways, enjoy!

Some Interesting Facts About Dreams!

I will admit to you all that I am a fact junkie, in fact I'm often compared to Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory because of my tendancy to mention facts ranging from mundane to utterly fascinating...well at least to myself. So when it comes to dreams you can bet your Moonpie that I have a ton of facts to anyone who wants to listen

For example, did you know thast everyone dreams, but some people simply don't remember them very often? Actually there is one exception, which is that some individuals with severe psycholical distorders, who many times do not experience dreams.

Did you know that individuals who were blind dream in sounds, scent, and other sensations?  Those who became blind later on in life dream can see images.

Are you aware that all the faces we see in dreams are of real people that we've seen, even if in just a brief glance?

Yep, those are all true, check out several others here.

Myth and Dreams...

I am fascinated by both dreams and myths and the relation of the two intrigues me. In many cases a figure in myth finds the answers they seek or prophetic visions in dreams, while other times a character is visited by a deceased loved one or even someone they killed or betrayed.

I found an article from Psychology Today that delves into the topic of dreams and myth, here's a segment of the article and the link to the article in it's entirety.

How can a cultural phenomenon like a myth—a set of stories told round campfires or enacted in dance and ceremony or celebrated in religious rites; how can these cultural entities create a dream? Presumably dreams are influence by social learning just like any other part of human psychology so it is not so far fetched to think that myths can influence dream content.
Could it be the other way round as well? That dreams influence social behaviors of groups? I invite the reader to do an experiment. Read a bunch of trickster tales from around the globe and see if you don't agree with me that they are curiously dream-like, unlike many other mythical forms.

Dream Art

I am a fan of good art, so I decided to share some of my favorite works of art. Most are related to dreams but a few just look nice!

I am accustomed to sleep and in my dreams to imagine the same things that lunatics imagine when awake.

David Farland: Update on Ben Wolverton and Another Way to Help

Fantasy author David Farland has recently updated the status if his son Ben, who as you saw in my previous post is recovering from a serious sporting accident. Here is what David wrote on his Facebook Page.

Update on Ben Wolverton: Ben is still recovering from his accident and remains in a coma. His blood count was low this morning, so they're giving him two more units of blood. (They gave him a couple during brain surgery last week, and I think he got some while on the life flight.)
Ben also got a CAT scan this morning, and we compared this one to his three previous CAT scans, and spoke with his doctor. Ben has significant damage in a couple parts of his brain. The biggest worry is the area that controls his speech/word recognition, and the area that controls the ability to walk. His vision may also be affected, and there are some other questionable areas. The doctor says that Ben will probably need months of intense therapy to help with his rehabilitation.
It sounds as if Ben will remain in the ICU for a couple more weeks, but I'm not sure about that. Doctors do want to do surgery to repair his knees, which may need some skin grafts, and we don't have word yet on what might be done for his broken pelvis bones or spinal injuries.
Of course, we don't know until Ben wakes up whether he will be better off or worse off than predicted, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

There is going to be a "Book Bomb" to help raise funds. Details are as follows:

Ben Wolverton, age 16, was in a tragic long-boarding accident on Wednesday the 4th, 2013. He suffers from severe brain trauma, a cracked skull, broken pelvis and tail bone, burnt knees, bruised lungs, broken ear drums, road rash, pneumonia, and is currently in a coma. His family has no insurance.
Ben is the son of author David Farland, whose books have won multiple awards, and who is widely known as a mentor to many prominent authors, such as Brandon Sanderson, Stephenie Meyer, and Brandon Mull. Costs for Ben's treatment are expected to rise above $1,000,0000. To help raise money for Ben, we are having a book bomb (focused on Nightingale and Million Dollar Outlines) on behalf of Ben

You can learn more about Ben's condition, or simply donate to the Wolverton family here: http://www.gofundme.com/BensRecovery

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Some people sing at night to drive back the darkness. Others sing to summon it. . . .

Bron Jones was abandoned at birth. Thrown into foster care, he was rejected by one family after another, until he met Olivia, a gifted and devoted high-school teacher who recognized him for what he really was--what her people call a "nightingale."

But Bron isn't ready to learn the truth. There are secrets that have been hidden from mankind for hundreds of thousands of years, secrets that should remain hidden. Some things are too dangerous to know. Bron's secret may be the most dangerous of all.

IS IT GOOD?

Authors such as James Dashner (The Maze Runner), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn), and Paul Genesse (Iron Dragon series) all PRAISED it. Nightingale has 4 and a half stars on Amazon. Three Dreams Saga

Guess what? I'm a winner!

I'm proud to announce that my entry for the ASSCC 2012 short story contest presented by My Home Away From Home won fourth place (of six) and will be featured in the anthology that is set to be released in early August with proceeds going to 'To Write Love on Her Arms' The book will be titled 'Dawn of the Living Dead', which is the title of the grand prize winning entry by Melissa Somoza and judging by the provided excerpt, will be a spectacular read. Below is the excerpt of Dawn of the Living Dead by Melissa Somoza.

Before I could even take a bite of the food, a blood-curdling scream filled our ears and it was followed by a loud bang, which I somehow knew was a gunshot. I dropped my fork, looking at the shocked faces around me, sure that my own conveyed the same panic.Mom spoke, her voice quivering, “James…”The television flashed on, a loud buzzing noise reverberating throughout the house. “This is not a test. This is not a test.” More buzzing followed and I slowly stood up. Riley took my arm, protectively. My dad and Mr. Harper went to the front door, motioning for the rest of us to stay put. Mom told us to be quiet by putting a finger to her lips.“Daddy?”Riley and I flew to the floor as our glass window shattered into a million pieces.

I'd also like to congratulate several of my fellow winners of ASSCC 2012, which are Jennifer Don, Dominique Goodall, Patricia Tippet Lane. The four of us are (unofficially) known as The Dream Team, and I've seen some of their works and each has truly great talent.

Thanks to everyone who reads this blog and those who support me offline, especially my wife Crystal who is the most important and supportive person I've ever had. Have a good weekend everyone!

Do or Die...

In a world that has been divided amongst the Hunter race and the Warrior, prisoners who have fallen prey to King Cyrus' decrees are forced into the arena to fight until death. Winner is granted mercy and privilege to see another sunrise. Death unto the weak. In an attempt to get back at everyone who has ever shut her out, seventeen year-old Princess Echo becomes another victim, dragging Ayden, her forbidden love, along in a race to freedom, to find out who she really is, and to put a world that has been swallowed by lies back together again.

In the first installment of The Bleeding Heart Trilogy, life becomes a dangerous game of kill or be killed, love or let go. When death threatens the forbidden love of an unlikely couple and they are forced to do the unthinkable, to what extent will they go to be together?

Excerpt from Fleeting Fires:

Want to tell me what’s going on here?” Jakob asked from beside me.

I guffawed. “You mean beside the fact that he locked Echo and I up underground for days and somehow filled her head with his shit?” I rolled my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose. “If not that, there’s nothing else.”

“Bastard,” I heard Kahl grumble.

“Coward,” I shot back, my eyes burning with the challenge.

“Fool.”

“Ass.”

“R—” Kahl closed the small space between us and gripped my shoulders, pushing me into a wall. “I didn’t have to do much for her to remember!” he rushed to say, a gritted whisper. “But you made her forget—forget me, forget everything. If she wasn’t so foolhardily infatuated with you, you wouldn’t even be alive right now…”

My jaw clenched as the people walking by stopped to stare at us. Conroy, Jakob and the others had slowed to turn back.

“So that’s what this is about. Echo? And not just her, but your past with her.” I shook my head and smiled. “Since we haven’t much time to spare with your idiocy, stop thinking you’re the only one who can help her, Zimmerman,” I grounded. “Infatuation? Were you not the one who had us in cages? I know we just met, but by my book, dragging someone to your own personal Hell is not the way to soften them up.” I kicked off the wall and came to stand in front of him. I was taller by an inch, give or take, and my fists clenched at my sides with the dire need to hit something, anything. “Stay away from her; her past with you is minuscule. Know you’re place, because it damn sure is not by her side.”

I pushed past him, my shoulder knocking him off kilter, and averted Conroy’s gaze as I made my way to the front of the group.

“I can’t,” I heard Kahl call out. I turned to face him and he did the same. “Stay away from her, I mean. I won’t.”

Something awesome this way comes...

Tune in tomorrow for a special feature that really is awesome. It will probably be going up late into the morning. See you all then!

Character Bio: Tiranis

The Conservation Law states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can move location or change forms. Furthermore, it is electric impulses that are sent by the brain to various parts of the human body to perform both voluntary functions such as walking, and involuntary functions like the beating of a heart. Even our thoughts are electric impulses that are directed to each part of the brain with the help of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin (which is said to induce feelings related to love).

It can be hypothesis that the energy involved don't just go away after the thought has past, in fact the antagonist Three Dreams Saga is basically the personification of hatred, jealousy, greed, and all other negative emotions that have accumulated over thousands of years.

Tiranis does not wish to destroy the world or even eliminate human life, for he craves chaos and he needs the inhabitants of both the walking world and The Realm of Dreams to obtain what he desperately needs. Tiranis has the ability to effect temperature, which he uses to induce changes in the temperatures of the waking worlds oceans, thus causing extreme weather events that he has realized is quite effectual as means for reaching his goals.
Edgar Allan Poe lived a disturbed life, yet his words are beyond anything ever said before and after him. Perhaps the two are related?
